Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy GPU clock speed revealed by new leak
Earlier, Samsung executives were confident that the Exynos 2400's Xclipse 920 GPU would pack sufficient power to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. Leaked benchmarks, on the other hand, tell the opposite story, at least in two tests. Renowned leaker Ice Universe has now revealed yet another bit of information about the SoC's Adreno 750 GPU.
It will be one of the first smartphone GPUs clocked at 1.0 GHz. For context, the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's Adreno 750 has been found to operate at 900 MHz, giving the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Galaxy a not-so-insignificant edge in performance. Its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, had its Adreno 740 GPU clocked at 720 MHz.
While not specified or confirmed in any capacity, the Exynos 2400's Xclipse 920 is also clocked the same: 1.1 GHz, according to a leak. However, that is the result of severe underclocking due to architectural limitations with RDNA 3.
The overclocked GPU should, on paper, make the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy a formidable gaming beast. Our tests suggest that the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 blazes past the Apple A17 Bionic; therefore, it is reasonable to assume its "For Galaxy" variant will further widen the lead.
