Update | iQOO Z8 officially set to launch as mid-range Android smartphone with flagship charging
Update: The Z8 has now been unleashed with a 6.64-inch 1080p 120Hz (albeit LCD) display powered by a 5,000mAh battery for its marquee 120W charging spec.
It goes for 1,599 yuan (~US220) for an 8GB RAM/256GB internal storage base model, although it comes with a cheaper Z8x variant with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, a 6,000mAh battery with 44W charging and the same display starting at 1,199 yuan (~US165).
Meanwhile, the Z7 Pro has been announced as a "fully loaded" smartphone with a ring-flash to augment it dual rear cameras that will start at INR 21,999 from September 5, 2023.
Original Article: The Z8 is far from the first MediaTek Dimensity 8200-powered smartphone iQOO has ever produced - however, the OEM now endorses rumors that it is the fastest yet, claiming to get AnTuTu scores of 980,832 out of it in its own testing. The device's new 3,002mm2 (or "3K") vapor chamber is touted to have grown by 25% compared to the previous generation...that might have something to do with this new piece of hype.
The Z8 still has double-barrelled "OIS" rear camera rings, albeit in an updated hump this time. However, its marquee upgrade comes in the form of a step up to 120W charging, iQOO's second-fastest rate and a considerable improvement over the 80W maximum of older Z-series variants.
The smartphone also has the same 5,000mAh battery capacity of the flagship 11 that sells in India. On that note, it seems the Z8 has a downgraded, Dimensity 7200-powered, (yet "Super-Vision 3D-curved" 120Hz display-equipped) variant that will launch as the Z7 Pro on Amazon.in on the same day as the new series flagship will hit Vivo's Chinese website: August 31, 2023.
