Xiaomi Redmi Note 12T Pro to launch with 144 Hz display and new Dimensity 8200 Ultra chip
Xiaomi has started teasing the Redmi Note 12T Pro, its second smartphone powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8200 Ultra chipset. For reference, Xiaomi recently showcased the CIVI 3 with the Dimensity 8200 Ultra. However, the specifications revealed so far confirm that the Redmi Note 12T Pro is not a CIVI 3 re-brand.
Instead, Xiaomi has equipped the former with an IPS display that has a 144 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the display will support DC dimming, which should be easier on the eye than PWM dimming, on which OLED panels rely. Also, Xiaomi advertises the panel as supporting automatic colour temperature adjustments, which sounds like Apple's True Tone technology.
Incidentally, Xiaomi claims that the Dimensity 8200 Ultra exceeds 900,000 points in AnTuTu, thanks to a combination of four ARM Cortex-A78 CPU performance cores running at 3.1 GHz and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2 GHz. Furthermore, the company asserts that the SoC is good for 58.3 FPS average in Genshin Impact. The SoC's performance in Geekbench practically matches its predecessor, though.
Separately, Xiaomi has outlined that the Redmi Note 12T Pro will launch with a 64 MP primary camera, a 5,080 mAh battery that supports 67 W wired charging and up to 16 GB of RAM with 512 GB of storage. While Xiaomi has not revealed launch pricing or international availability yet, the Redmi Note 12T Pro will debut in China on May 30.
