The iPhone 15 "Ultra", or, possibly, "15 Pro Max", has been involved in an alleged hands-on leak well in advance, albeit as a dummy unit thought to exist in order to guide case-makers in the run-up to its late-2023 launch.
Now, the rest of its 2023 family has allegedly joined it in the same form, as MacRumors' full "set of dummy models". Their line-up suggests that Apple will offer its flagship handset in a choice of 4 variants for yet another year.
Therefore, it seems the 14 Plus does indeed get a successor, which seems to share a new Action Button with the rest of its 15-series siblings. Its replica is the same size as that of its highest-end counterpart, and is yet again restricted to 2 rear cameras rather than 3.
The "15 Plus" is the only one to be represented in a dark finish as opposed to the pale silver of previous physical iPhone leaks. On that note, this one might hint at a change to frosted glass across the board, whereas that cosmetic feature has been exclusive to Pro models thus far.
Nevertheless, it seems one will be hard-pressed to tell a real-life 2023 iPhone apart from a 2022 counterpart at this stage - were it not for the long-hyped absence of Lightning ports, that is.
Then again, MacRumors correspondent Dan Barbera does suggest that each variant may feel different in the hand, thanks to a new bevelled edge to their metallic frames. Hopefully, these subtle upgrades will be enough for consumers willing to shell out for these suspected first-gen USB type-C iPhones.
