According to a new report, Apple will release all iPhone 15 models with 48 MP primary cameras. Reputedly, the basic iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will receive a new triple-stacked camera sensor aimed at capturing more light to improve image quality.

MacRumors claims to have obtained new information about the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, citing a research note shared by Jeff Pu. For reference, Pu is a well-known analyst at Haitong International Securities in Hong Kong. As MacRumors notes, Pu was the original source of rumours that Apple had dropped solid-state buttons from the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max because of various design issues.

Now, the website reports a new Pu rumour about the primary cameras that will be available in non-Pro models. Specifically, the pair are alleged to feature 48 MP cameras, but not the same one offered in the iPhone 14 Pro or the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Instead, Pu asserts that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will rely on a new 'three-stacked sensor' designed to improve image quality by picking out more light from a given scene than the current iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

There is no mention of Apple bringing ProRAW support to non-Pro iPhones, though. Pu adds that production delays could affect this new triple-stacked sensor, which Apple is only expected to offer in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. However, both models are anticipated to remain on track for a September release alongside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
