Honor 90: New mid-range smartphone arrives with 200 MP camera and 1200p display
The Honor 90 has arrived in China, debuting alongside the Honor 90 Pro. While the pair have launched six months after the Honor 80 series, the Honor 90 is arguably a bigger upgrade over the Honor 80 than the Honor 90 Pro compared to its direct predecessor. In short, the Honor 90 has a higher resolution display, a newer chipset, improved cameras and a larger battery than the Honor 80.
Specifically, Honor has equipped the Honor 90 with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, an upgrade over the Snapdragon 782G powering the Honor 80. It is worth noting that Qualcomm has replaced the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 with the more powerful Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 though, which Xiaomi already offers in the Redmi Note 12 Turbo and the POCO F5. Honor complements the midrange chipset with 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM too, up from 8 GB and 12 GB in the Honor 80.
Seemingly, the Honor 90 has a large display like the Honor 90 Pro, with a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel that resolves at 2,664 x 1,200 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,600 nits peak brightness. Likewise, the Honor 90 features a 200 MP primary camera but 12 MP ultra-wide-angle, 2 MP depth and 50 MP front-facing cameras.
Moreover, the Honor 90 has a 5,000 mAh that supports 66 W wired charging, 28 W less than the Honor 90 Pro. The Honor 90 is available in four colours and starts with 12 GB of RAM with 256 GB of storage. For reference, Honor has proved its new midrange handset as follows:
- 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 2,499 (~US$353)
- 16 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 2,799 (~US$396)
- 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage - CNY 2,999 (~US$424)
