Update | Vivo V29e set to launch with 50MP selfie camera and color-changing rear panel for under US$400
Update: The Vivo V29e is now up for pre-booking in India with a 6.78-inch FHD+ 120Hz "3D curved" display driven by a Snapdragon 695 SoC, Funtouch 13 and 44W charging for its 5,000mAh battery.
It can be pre-ordered as an 8GB RAM-only smartphone that starts at INR 26,999 (~US$327) with 128GB internal storage base model or INR 28,999 (~US$351) with double that capacity in Artistic Red (which changes color) or Artistic Blue (which doesn't) from now.
Original Article: Vivo has revealed that 1 SKU of its upcoming V29e will be able to switch between Artistic Red and black thanks to the color-shifting technology that is slowly becoming more prevalent in smartphones. This selling point will be augmented by one of the OEM's specialities: a 50MP shooter hidden behind a display punch-hole.
Then again, its on-trend dual rear camera rings might prove more of an afterthought, with a 64MP OIS Night Portrait shooter and no Aura Light flash as its main event. Vivo has also announced that the V29e's screen will be capable of going through 58.7° to form part of an "ergonomic grip" edge.
On this note, Vivo has (whether intentionally or otherwise) spoiled the V29e's approximate price. It is found in a launch site footnote that clarifies that it will have "the slimmest 3D curved screen in its segment". This, as it turns out, falls between INR 25,000 and 30,000 (US$300-360).
Accordingly, the V29e is likely to be unveiled within this range on August 28, 2023.
