The iQOO 9 series will debut alongside a more compact 120W GaN charger
iQOO may not be as well-known or as popular as other Chinese brands in its market, such as Xiaomi. However, the Vivo subsidiary seems dedicated to working on that with its upcoming flagship phone series. It intends to improve on the already impressive 8 Pro of 2021 with potentially improved and ground-breaking rear cameras.
On the other hand, iQOO has decided to stick with this device's charging speed in the 9 and 9 Pro. Nevertheless, this allows it to keep step with Xiaomi, as it involves a max rate of 120W, as with the new flagship 12 series. This time, however, the company will release a new and more compact power brick to support this standard.
iQOO has already hyped this new accessory as having shrunk by 26% compared to the one shipped with the 8 Pro, even though it is still capable of delivering up to 120W thanks to next-gen gallium nitride (GaN) technology. This adapter is to be compatible with either the vanilla 9 or the top-end 9 Pro.
On the other hand, iQOO has prepared something else to help the 9 Pro stand out: 50W wireless charging. This should replenish its 4,700mAh battery much quicker compared to other, more conventional standards.
iQOO should confirm whether its latest GaN charger ships in the box with a new 9-series unit or not at its January 5, 2022 launch event.
