iQOO launches the Neo5S and 5 SE smartphones with high-end Snapdragon chipsets and a new UI based on Android 12
iQOO has made its latest phones official as new variants of the Neo5 line, one with the freshly ex-flagship Snapdragon 888 processor and the other with its slightly sub-premium 870 sibling. The former is also rated to manage its high-performance SoC's thermal load with a system that adds a lanthanum and cerium alloy plate to the more normal gamut of vapor chambers and heat-spreaders.
iQOO asserts that the new materials raises the Neo5S' internal thermal conductivity to 200% that of its last-gen design. The phone leverages this new feature to drive a 120Hz 6.62-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, which stays on thanks to a 4,500mAh battery with 66W charging.
The Neo5S also has triple rear cameras with a 48MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens. The Neo5 SE, on the other hand, has a 50MP main shooter, although it lacks the OIS found in the higher-end 5S.
Then again, it does get a 144Hz refresh rate for its 6.67-inch 1080p LCD display. It has the same battery capacity as the Neo5S, although it gets iQOO's 55W charging tech instead. The 2 new Neo5 variants both ship with the Vivo brand's latest UI: OriginOS Ocean, and each have their range of eye-catching colorways.
They comprise Night Space, Sunset Canyon, and Orange Leap for the 5S, with a choice of Mineral Shadow Blue, Rock Crystal White, and Phantom Fluorescence (a cyan to pinkish gradient) in the 5 SE.
They will be available to order in China from December 24 and 28, 2021, starting at 2,699 yuan (~US$424) and 2,199 yuan (~$345) respectively. iQOO has yet to mention international availability for these interesting new 8 to 12GB RAM phones.
