The iQOO Z5x is coming with a mid-range Dimensity processor
October 20, 2021 seems to have been chosen as the ideal day (or approximate date, in some cases) for some OEMs to finally unveil some long-awaited hardware or software. However, some other companies have already released all of their flagships for the year, yet are still eager to grab some of the day's spotlight with potentially compelling affordable-class smartphones.
Now, iQOO has confirmed that one of these is to be a new addition to the Z series. Its specs are not certain as yet, but it is possible it is a refresh of the existing Z5. Then again, it will certinaly stand apaprt as the two phones will have SoCs from different sources.
The Z5 is a premium mid-ranger with the Snapdragon 778G processor, as opposed to the MediaTek Dimensity 900 now officially slated for the Z5x. That could work out well for the phone, as there are not many other phones around with the same processor.
iQOO has hyped it in terms of its new platform's best attributes, which include its 6nm architecture, ARM Cortex-A78 cores and 5G modem. The Vivo sub-brand has not dropped any clues as to the rest of its specs or its price yet; for context, its small group of counterparts have started at the US$300-400 mark.
