ASUS and Lenovo shown to be preparing high-end Intel Raptor Lake Refresh gaming laptops
New evidence that gaming laptop manufacturers are working towards delivering Raptor Lake Refresh machines has turned up online. To recap, a laptop based around the Core i7-14700HX appeared on PugetBench last week, which we have discussed separately. Now, the Core i9-14900HX has emerged courtesy of two sources, evidence of which we have embedded below.
As always, PugetBench does not reveal any specifications about the Core i9-14900HX. However, the benchmark database outlines that the processor will be available in the ROG Strix SCAR 16 with a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU and 64 GB of RAM. Surprisingly, the new ROG Strix SCAR 16 retains the same 'G634JYR' model number as its predecessor.
Rather than being an error, VideoCardz believes that this implies the Core i9-14900HX shares all core characteristics with the Core i9-13980HX, a 55 W processor with 8 P cores, 16 E cores and 32 threads. Separately, VideoCardz has published a screenshot from an unnamed Bulgarian retailer in which three Core i9-14900HX Lenovo Legion laptops can be seen.
Listed as the Legion 7, Legion 7 Pro and Legion 9, the trio will be joined by a Core i7-14700HX version of the Legion 7 and the Core i5-14650HX-equipped Legion 5. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when Intel and its partners will present Raptor Lake Refresh machines. For reference, Intel is also preparing to fully unveil its Meteor Lake architecture, which will arrive in mid-December.
