Intel Core i7-14700HX shows up on Geekbench with increased core count and up to 18% performance uplift over the Core i7-13700HX
Multiple leaks up to this point have confirmed Intel's plans to bring its Raptor Lake Refresh processors to laptops. So far, three SKUs have been confirmed: the Core i9-14900HX, Core i7-14700HX and Core i5-14650HX. High-end laptops from Asus and Lenovo will be among the first to feature the hardware. Now, a Geekbench listing sheds light on the Core i7-14700HX's specs.
It follows the footsteps of its desktop counterpart, Core i7-14700K, by increasing the number of CPU cores. The Core i7-14700HX is found to feature 8 performance and 12 efficiency cores (20 cores/28 threads), up from 8P + 8E on the Core i7-13700HX. All in all, it appears to be a Core i7-13850HX with a fresh coat of paint. Its single-core base/boost clocks are 2.29 GHz and 5.2 GHz, respectively.
Performance-wise, the Core i7-14700HX scores 2,921 and 17,475 points in Geekbench's single and multi-core tests. That is a 10% and 18% improvement in single and multi-threaded performance over the Core i7-13700HX. While the latter is to be expected due to the increased core count, the former indicates there are some solid under-the-hood improvements.
Currently, there is no word about when Intel plans to launch the Core i7-14700HX and its siblings. With entry-level Meteor Lake processors due to hit shelves soon, the Raptor Lake Refresh lineup will likely serve as a stop-gap lineup to buy time till the high-end Core Ultra 9 SKUs debut in mid-2024.
