Intel Core i7-14700HX: Benchmark listing confirms Raptor Lake refresh is headed to laptops
Intel's 14th-gen Raptor Lake desktop processors didn't offer much in the way of performance gains, which isn't unexpected from a mid-cycle refresh. However, desktops aren't the only platform that'll get 14xxx processors. A recent PugetBench listing confirms that the Raptor Lake Refresh is coming to laptops.
The SKU in question ran an Intel Core i7-14700HX processor and an Intel Arc A570M graphics card. It scores 842 points overall with general, GPU and filter scores of 98.2, 80.9 and 70.2, respectively. The test system ran 64 GB of DDR5 memory clocked at 4,800 MT/S. It is challenging to calculate generation-over-generation gains due to the laptop's unique configuration.
Furthermore, the PugetBench listing doesn't reveal any of the Core I7-14700HX's key specs. Usually, one can safely assume it to operate at slightly higher clocks and keep the Core i7-13700HX's core count. However, the desktop Core i7-14700K comes with additional cores, and the chance could likely carry over to its laptop counterpart.
There is no word about when Intel plans to unveil the 14th-gen Raptor Lake laptop chips. For now, three SKUs are confirmed: the Core i9-14900HX, Core i7-14700HX and Core i5-14650HX. With Meteor Lake laptops scheduled to hit shelves in December, 14th-gen Raptor Lake SKUs run the risk of confusing potential buyers even further.
