The ASUS ROG Flow X13 occupies the sparsely populated gaming convertible niche. As such, the machine is a rather unique combination of powerful internals and a portable, convertible chassis. However, the ROG Flow X13 does not come cheap at full retail. For instance, an entry-level configuration with a Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU, an integrated Radeon 780M GPU, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage, and an FHD+ display will normally run you back US$1,249.99 at Best Buy.
Fortunately, Best Buy now has the ROG Flow X13 config listed above for only US$899.99. This discount of US$350 has brought the ROG Flow X13 price down to its lowest level in 120 days according to Honey’s price history tool.
The 2023 ASUS ROG Flow X13 is a stellar gaming convertible from almost every angle. Our review found the machine to have a portable design with a sturdy chassis and 1.3 Kg of weight alongside solid inputs and a range of connectivity options. The ports include USB4 that supports both DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery allowing.
When it comes to performance, the ASUS ROG Flow X13 on sale offers excellent CPU performance thanks to the 8-core Ryzen 9 7940HS Phoenix APU. Despite being a thin 2-in-1, the Ryzen 9 7940HS inside the ROG Flow X13 performs in the range of other competing CPUs inside much bigger gaming laptops. For instance, we measured only a 4% downgrade in performance vs the Ryzen 9 7940HS inside laptops like the Razer Blade 14 and TUF A16 with power limits of 88 W and 114 W respectively.
Furthermore, with Cinebench R23 multi-core and single-core scores of 16,285 and 1,774 respectively, the ASUS ROG Flow X13 has enough CPU grunt to power through the most demanding of CPU loads. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the integrated Radeon 780M graphics which is only sufficient for low to medium FHD gaming in older titles like The Witcher 3.
Finally, the ASUS ROG Flow X13 has awesome battery life thanks to the efficient CPU and a large 75 Wh cell. Our review unit equipped with a QHD+ display and an RTX 4060 lasted for around 12 hours in our Wi-Fi websurfing test. The unit under discussion should last even longer considering the FHD+ display and the lack of a dGPU.
All in all, with a “very good” rating of 89% from us, the ASUS ROG Flow X13 is bound to impress especially when you consider the current discount.
