It seems that ASUS is preparing to replace the ROG Phone 7 series after less than a year. While there is no word on an ASUS ROG Phone 8 release date yet, a teaser for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered device has already turned up online.

The ROG Phone 7 series is barely six months old, with ASUS presenting the ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate in mid-April. Nonetheless, a teaser for an 8th-generation model has already turned up online. Reposted to Twitter by the likes of @TECHINFO45 and @yabhishekhd, the image does not contain many details about the ROG Phone 8.

Nonetheless, it confirms that ASUS is already developing a new ROG Phone around the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm's latest flagship smartphone chipset. Built around Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 CPU, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 outscores its predecessor by 36% in early benchmark results. For reference, Xiaomi is the only company to have released Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphones so far as the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro.

However, the OnePlus 12 is also in the frame, as is the Realme GT5 Pro and the iQOO 12 series. Currently, it remains unclear when ASUS will unveil the ROG Phone 8. Instead, the company has only hinted that the device is coming soon. Presumably, ASUS' next gaming smartphone will debut first in China, with other countries following soon after.
