MSI has announced its intentions to release six new QD-OLED gaming monitors. To be available in 27, 32, 34 and 49-inch sizes, the MAG and MPG-branded monitors will debut during CES 2024 with 1440p and 4K resolutions and 240 Hz or 360 Hz refresh rates.

MSI has previewed six new Quantum Dot OLED (QD-OLED) monitors, a few days after Dell showcased the Alienware AW2725DF and Alienware AW3225QF. In a press release, MSI explains that all monitors will rely on the 'latest generation of QD-OLED panels', albeit without providing any specifics. However, it has outlined a few details about all MAG and MPG monitors, such as their sizes, resolutions and refresh rates, which are as follows:

  • MPG 271QRX QD-OLED

    • 2,560 x 1,440 (WQHD) resolution, 360 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response times

  • MPG 321URX QD-OLED

    • 3,840 x 2,160 (4K) resolution, 240 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response times

  • MPG 491CQP QD-OLED

    • 5,120 x 1,440 (DQHD) resolution, 1800R curvature, 144 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response times

  • MAG 271QPX QD-OLED

    • 2,560 x 1,440 (WQHD) resolution, 360 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response times

  • MAG 321UPX QD-OLED

    • 3,840 x 2,160 (4K) resolution, 240 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response times

  • MAG 341CQP QD-OLED

    • 3,440 x 1,440 (UWQHD) resolution, 1800R curvature, 144 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response times

Additionally, MSI clarifies that MAG 341CQP QD-OLED and the MPG 491CQP QD-OLED will be VESA certified to ClearMR 9000 and DisplayHDR True Black 400 standards, but not any of its other four MAG or MPG QD-OLED monitors. Also, the pair will support USB Type-C and full HDMI 2.1 connectivity. Thus, both monitors will be compatible with current-generation game consoles. Unfortunately, there is no word on whether either will feature DisplayPort 2.0 or DisplayPort 2.1 ports.

Moreover, MSI states that all monitors feature OLED Care 2.0, a fanless solution that utilises graphene film for 'efficient and silent heat dispersion' to maximise OLED panel lifespan. The company is less clear about the feature set of its other forthcoming QD-OLED monitors though, with not all necessarily offering MSI Gaming Intelligence, MSI Console Mode and 90 W USB Type-C Power Delivery.
