God of War Ragnarok rumoured to get an expansion later this year
It was rumoured earlier that God of War Ragnarok would not get any DLC. It's not particularly surprising, given that its predecessor didn't get any. Furthermore, the devs have done a decent job of tying up loose ends in the story. However, some questions still remain unanswered, and those could be addressed via DLC.
A now-deleted Tweet from a popular leaker says that God of War Ragnarok will get post-launch content. However, it will launch as an expandalone (a portmanteau of expansion and standalone) title, meaning it will be sold as a separate title without the AAA price tag. Another report via Areajugones says it could be unveiled at The Game Awards in December this year.
One can go as far as saying that some post-launch content is required for God of War Ragnarok to give the story closure. The game's next iteration is said to get a significant thematic overhaul and will likely focus on a new protagonist and retire the ageing Kratos, who has headlined the series since the series initially debuted in 2005.
