With God of War Ragnarök’s upcoming release on November 9, another high-profile game of the fall season is just around the corner. Although even PS4 owners will be able to enjoy Sony's latest exclusive title, lucky owners of a PS5 in particular are in for a real visual treat, as a recently published YouTube video perfectly illustrates. The experts at Digital Foundry have thoroughly analyzed the graphics of God of War Ragnarök in an almost thirty minutes long video, which overall contains a lot of praise for the highly anticipated action title.
In general, Sony's Santa Monica Studio has further built on the technically impressive predecessor from 2018 by implementing numerous enhancements and improvements. For example, the character models in God of War Ragnarök are even more detailed than before, and the same can be said of the game’s lighting effects and reflections. Once again, the PS-exclusive title also relies on a completely seamless cinematic presentation without annoying loading screens, and the level design once again highlights an incredible attention to detail.
God of War Ragnarök further offers a total of six graphics modes on the Sony PS5, which have recently been laid out in a neat little overview by the developer. For owners of a modern 4K TV with HDMI 2.1 inputs and VRR support, Digital Foundry recommends using the high frame rate mode, which displays God of War Ragnarök at a resolution of 1440p and an extremely smooth 80 to 90 fps during combat. The regular 60 fps graphics mode on PS5 also appears to be an adequate choice since it offers a decent balance between visual fidelity and performance.

Please also note that this video contains a few minor spoilers, which is why the purists among gamers may want to hold out on watching the video until they have experienced the first few hours of Sony's exhilarating game first hand.
