Retroid Pocket 3+ launches with performance upgrades in multiple colours
Retroid has announced a new gaming handheld, roughly three months after it launched the Pocket 3. While the company continues to sell the Pocket 3, it has introduced the Pocket 3+. Unsurprisingly, the Pocket 3+ is more powerful than the Pocket 3 and is more expensive to boot.
Specifically, Retroid has replaced the Unisoc T310 with the Unisoc T618. For reference, the Unisoc T618 has two ARM Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2 GHz, plus a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. Also, the Pocket 3+ has 4 GB of LPDDR4x-1866 RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage, which are both upgrades over the components in the Pocket 3. Additionally, Retroid has equipped the Pocket 3+ with a 4,500 mAh battery, a 500 mAh larger capacity than the 4,000 mAh battery in the Pocket 3.
Unfortunately, Retroid continues to pre-install Android 11, not Android 12 or Android 13. Seemingly, the Pocket 3+ retains its predecessor's display too, which resolves at 1,334 x 750 pixels and measures 4.7-inches across. Separately, the Pocket 3 and Pocket 3+ have identical I/O. Hence, the latter has a 3.5 mm jack, a micro HDMI port, a microSD card reader and a USB Type-C port. As the image below shows, Retroid sells its 185 x 82 x 24 mm and 245 g gaming handheld in eight colourways. Retroid sells the Pocket 3+ for US$149 before shipping; all colours appear to be sold out at the time of writing, though.
