God of War Ragnarok, the highly-anticipated sequel to 2018's critically-acclaimed God of War, finally has a release date. It will be available to play on November 9, 2022, on the PS4 and PS5- debunking earlier rumours of the game being a PS5 exclusive. Sony has also shown off some promotional footage featuring Kratos and Atreus fighting a giant wolf; a scene that is eerily similar to the Great Grey Wolf Sif boss encounter in Dark Souls.
God of War Ragnarok will be pre-orderable on July 15 worldwide. The game will be available in multiple flavours, including the standard edition, digital deluxe edition, collector's edition and Jotnar edition. The digital deluxe edition includes some in-game cosmetics, access to the game's soundtrack and a theme for the PS4. Refer to the attached image for the complete list of items. Those looking to upgrade from the PS4 version of the game to the PS5 version will have to pay an equivalent of US$10 for the privilege.
Sony has also given a sneak peek into what the God of War Ragnarok collector's edition and Jotnar edition have in store. As their names suggest, they are for hardcore fans of the franchise and include a ton of goodies, including a 16-inch replica of Thor's hammer Mjolnir. Interestingly enough, neither variant includes a physical disk for the game, even though they include a Steelbook. One does, however, get a code for both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game and access to all of the aforementioned in-game items.
