The Xiaomi 14 Pro has received its first teardown. Not only has Xiaomi packed a true variable aperture camera in its latest smartphone this time around, but it appears to have included a larger cooling solution than the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and a display that peaks at 3,000 nits.

A few days have now passed since Xiaomi introduced its first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagships. While the pair share most components, Xiaomi has elected to keep some hardware back for the more expensive Pro. One such difference is the primary camera's continuously variable aperture, which is exclusive to the Xiaomi 14 Pro.

WekiHome has now demonstrated how this hardware works in one its latest teardown videos, which can be at around 2:50 into the video embedded below. As always, accessing internal hardware requires prying off the Xiaomi 14 Pro's glass back panel first. Once removed, WekiHome also highlights the device's various chips, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, UFS 4.0 flash storage and RAM, plus those dedicated to managing security and charging.

Seemingly, the included 4,880 mAh battery should be easy to remove, thanks to the inclusion of large pull tabs. Moreover, the YouTuber verifies that the new TCL C8 display delivers 2,950 nits in HDR mode, although this is not necessarily reflective of peak brightness in real-world use. Xiaomi has packed the Xiaomi 14 Pro with a large cooling solution too that visually looks bigger than the equivalent in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, despite official estimations stating otherwise. For now, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro remain Chinese exclusives. Currently, global releases for both are expected to occur simultaneously in early 2024.
