The Nubia Z70 Ultra is due to start shipping internationally from today (December 5, 2024) as the world's only Android smartphone with both a 35mm size and a variable aperture for the lens of one of its 50MP rear cameras.
Nubia asserts that its new Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered flagship comes closer to 'real camera' performance than any other Android smartphone that has come before it thanks to its new specs. However, it might not have the feature to itself for very long.
Honor now also has the same kind of super-advanced lens for mobile devices in development, according to the typically prescient leaker Digital Chat Station.
When the feature is ready, it will be combined with the Magic7 Pro's current, class-leading 200MP telephoto camera in an upcoming device, while the Z70 Ultra makes do with an aging 64MP sensor for its own periscope zoom purposes.
