Nubia Z70 Ultra: Global launch date confirmed as ZTE releases new Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship with 35 mm camera
ZTE has now officially introduced its latest flagship smartphone, which it claims combines 'groundbreaking' features to create an innovative and powerful device. As pre-launch teasers suggested, the device in question is the Nubia Z70 Ultra, which follows on from the summer's Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version (curr. $849 on Amazon).
Predictably, the Nubia Z70 Ultra utilises Qualcomm's recent Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which ZTE has paired with LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 flash storage and a 6,150 mAh silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery. Moreover, ZTE has included an AMOLED display that spans 6.85-inches while offering a 1.5K (1,216 x 2,688) resolution, a 144 Hz refresh rate and 2,000 nits peak brightness. Additionally, the Nubia Z70 Ultra possesses a 16 MP under-display camera that helps create the impression of an uninterrupted and near bezel-less display.
Arguably, 1.25 mm thick bezels would be a talking point of any modern smartphone. However, the Nubia Z70 Ultra also boasts a primary camera with a 35 mm full frame equivalent focal length and an f/1.59-f/4 variable aperture. Furthermore, ZTE complements this 50 MP and Sony IMX906-derived sensor with 50 MP ultra-wide-angle and 64 MP periscope telephoto cameras, which feature 13 mm and 85 mm equivalent focal lengths, respectively. Incidentally, ZTE has included a dedicated camera shutter button this time around as well.
Currently, the Nubia Z70 Ultra is exclusive to China, where it will be available from today starting at CNY 4,599 (~$635) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. As always, ZTE is offering multiple memory configurations in its home market. The company has confirmed that the Nubia Z70 Ultra will receive a global release on November 26, too.
