As previously reported, the follow-up to the Nubia Z70 Ultra (approx. $769 on Amazon) will be officially unveiled on Monday, 28 April. The device is expected to feature even better cameras, spearheaded by an unconventional main shooter with an equivalent focal length of 35 mm, rather than the 24 mm more commonly seen on smartphones.
On Weibo, Nubia has now revealed a photography kit slated to launch alongside the Nubia Z70S Ultra. This kit lends the phone a retro-futuristic vibe, blending numerous elements of vintage cameras with the Z70S Ultra’s all-screen display. It also contains a leather case with a built-in grip for enhanced handling. The included top and base plates make the device look like a classic rangefinder camera.
Camera shutter and dials for enhanced usability
The top plate features a dedicated shutter button, zoom control, and two dials that are probably used for adjusting exposure parameters – provided they aren’t purely decorative. Despite being a cold shoe, the mount on top could still be useful for attaching accessories like a microphone.
Nubia also includes a filter adapter that supports standard 67 mm filters, enabling users to mount an ND or a polarising filter on the phone’s camera. Though the effects of such filters can be simulated digitally, they can’t be fully replaced.
Macro and telephoto lenses add versatility to 35 mm camera
Additionally, Nubia has released three teaser images showcasing a series of interchangeable lenses designed to work with the 35 mm main camera, allowing users to modify its focal length. In collaboration with Fotogear, the company has developed at least five of these attachable lenses, including a fisheye lens, a macro lens, a 139 mm telephoto lens, and a 400 mm telephoto lens.
