ZTE has a habit of upgrading its Nubia flagships every six months or so. For instance, the Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version landed last July after ZTE presented the Nubia Z60 Ultra in December 2023.
Now, it is the turn of the Z70 Ultra (curr. $769 on Amazon) to be refreshed, having arrived in China on November 21 before being released globally five days later. So far, ZTE is being rather coy about the changes it has made between models, despite the unreleased device appearing publicly at the TENAA a few days ago.
So far, ZTE has revealed that it intends to replace the Z70 Ultra with the Nubia Z70S Ultra Photographer Edition. While a release date remains unknown for now, the company has hinted that the smartphone will launch later this month. Also, it seems that the Photographer Edition will showcase new 35 mm camera hardware, which ZTE describes as 'fifth generation 35 mm high definition optics'.
ZTE has not shared other details about the Nubia Z70S Ultra Photographer Edition yet. With that being said, we would be surprised if the company decided against adopting the SM8750-AC as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version to distinguish the new smartphone from the existing Z70 Ultra. Incidentally, Digital Chat Station predicted back in October that this variant would start launching in devices from April onwards.
