A new teaser page on Flipkart reveals that Xiaomi is preparing to launch its latest budget smartphone, the Poco C71 shortly. Previously, we covered leaks on the European variant of this model - the Redmi A5. The new bits of information give us the phone's launch date and highlight some visual and internal differences from its sibling.
To be launched in just a few days - April 4th - the Xiaomi Poco C71 is set to offer solid specs for the price, including a 6.88" 120 Hz display with triple TÜV certification, the Unisoc T7250 SoC with two performance Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, as well as a 5,200 mAh battery, 32 MP primary image sensor and 6 GB of RAM. Since we have already covered most of the device's specs, let's now focus on the new information and the differences from the Redmi A5.
First of all, it's evident that the new Poco C71 will feature a "Split Grid" back panel design which looks slightly different to what the A5 has. The rear camera module looks almost the same but now has more gold accents on the decorative lens rings. Even though the Redmi A5 was looking clean enough in the leaked photos, the C71's alternative look may seem more premium to some users. To differentiate the devices even further, Xiaomi decided to use some different colors for the new model, specifically Power Black, Cool Blue, and Desert Gold.
Contrary to Redmi A5's rumored 18W, the Poco C71 will apparentlt come with 15W wired charging to keep the phone's 5,200 mAh battery topped up. It's unclear if the Europe-bound model will really have this charging speed advantage, or if that's just an error in the leaked data, but both figures are acceptable for a budget phone.
According to the teaser page, not only will the device's screen feature triple TÜV Rheinland certification (Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, Circadian), making it particularly eye-friendly, but it will also be usable with wet fingers. Moreover, we now have the official update cycle information for the Poco C71: the phone will get two new releases of Android, initially releasing with Android 15, and 4 years of security updates.
