The successor to the Xiaomi Poco M6 5G is finally official, and it features a fresh design with a round camera bump as well as numerous other significant upgrades. To be more exact, the display grows to 6.88 inches and its refresh rate increases to 120Hz, but Xiaomi continues to use an IPS panel with a resolution of just 1,640 x 720 pixels.
Xiaomi further utilizes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, which is approximately 20 percent quicker compared to the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ found inside last year's model. The 8MP selfie camera sits in a small notch, while the fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button on the side of the smartphone. The large, round camera bump on the back contains only two camera sensors, including a 50MP main camera and presumably a 2MP sensor. Xiaomi has not provided technical specifications of the second camera thus far.
The Poco M7 5G is 0.32 inches thick, weighs 7.23oz and is IP52 certified and therefore protected against dust and water splashes, but not fully waterproof. The very affordable budget smartphone also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot and a 5,160 mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C with up to 18 watts. Xiaomi promises two major Android software updates and four years of security patches. The smartphone runs on Android 14 out of the box.
