The Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro occupies fifth place in our current list of the best smartphones under $500 (list is currently being updated). The 6.67-inch Android smartphone's decent price-performance ratio is its main selling point. Online retailers such as Amazon offer the Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro in the large storage version (12/512 GB) for just under $400. The smaller version (8/256 GB) costs just $377.
The Poco X7 Pro is particularly popular due to its powerful features. Highlights include the 120 Hz AMOLED panel with four-digit brightness (up to 1,372 cd/m² for SDR and 2,824 cd/m² for HDR), the high-performance LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 memory as well as the above-average battery life, which is made possible by the 6,000 mAh lithium-ion battery. The 50 MP camera takes solid photos.
Almost as fast as a flagship phone
The Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro stands out from other smartphones in its price range primarily because of its performance. This is due to the MediaTek Dimensity 8400, with which the smartphone achieves a score of 1,695,493 points in AnTuTu v10. This would have placed it among the top smartphones last year.
Competitors with similar prices, such as the Google Pixel 8a or the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, cannot match the power of this SoC. It is therefore hardly surprising that the Poco X7 Pro also proves to be a strong gaming platform, running graphically demanding games such as Genshin Impact in full detail at a constant 60 FPS, the maximum frame rate.
Android-Updates up to 2029
Xiaomi plans to provide the smartphone, which will launch with HyperOS 2.0 (based on Android 15), with Android security updates until 2029, i.e., for 4 years. Buyers can also count on a further 3 OS upgrades in the same timeframe.
However, the Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro does have a few disadvantages. The 90-watt power adapter, which fully charges the smartphone within 40 minutes, is not included in the scope of delivery for the EU/UK version. Moreover, the Poco X7 Pro does not support wireless charging or eSIMs and occasionally displays advertisements in its system apps, which require a little effort to remove.
