The OnePlus 12 (now available for $649.95 renewed on Amazon) and Oppo Find X7 Ultra were released by the same OEM in 2024 - although the latter was widely found to have the better cameras, and could also be said to be the better-looking, (albeit mostly by those who like two-tone rear panels with vegan leather options) of the 2.
However, the X7 Ultra came with the compromise of a thicker, chunkier build at 9.5 millimeters in depth (thereby becoming one of the thickest flagship Android smartphones of the year) compared to 9.2mm in the 12.
The Find X8 Ultra might not have that problem, according to the legendary leaker Digital Chat Station. Oppo has also allegedly started work on the flagship to come after it, and has reportedly honed its edges down to 7.99mm at the most, compared to 8.5mm at the least in the OnePlus 13.
In the meantime, the X8 Ultra is also backed for an upgrade to a screen based on the LIPO process intended to minimize bezels in an extra-thin and -light display.
It is thought to become a trailblazer by adopting this technology in 2025 whereas the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Vivo X200 Ultra will not.
The Find X8 Ultra is also thought to launch with the same camera hump as its foldable counterpart the N5, although it might have improved Hasselblad-tuned lenses hidden behind it. It is currently believed to be announced in or around April 2025.
