Not everyone wants to spend a thousand dollars on a large creative tablet with pen support, which is where the Idea Tab Pro from Lenovo comes in. Here, users get great all-round tablet at a reasonable price. We summarize our test results for you below.

In view of its sub $450 price tag, the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro offers a lot of features that are otherwise only available on much more expensive tablets. For example, there is the Bluetooth stylus that can be magnetically attached to the back of the tablet. This can be used for precise writing and drawing thanks to the support of 4,096 pressure levels.

The high-quality unibody metal chassis alone gives it a premium feel: it is sturdy, very well manufactured and elegantly designed. However, at 620 grams, the Idea Tab Pro is no lightweight tablet. This is in part due to the large battery, which allows for media playback of up to 17 hours without an internet connection. The high-quality speakers from JBL, four of which installed in the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro, are also a perfect match. Top-quality entertainment on the go is thus guaranteed.

Unfortunately, Lenovo had to carry out some cost-saving measures on the display in order to keep the purchase price low. The IPS panel with its high resolution of 2,944 x 1,840, its refresh rate of 144 Hz and no PWM appears quite solid at first glance. However, HDR content cannot be displayed adequately and the maximum brightness of around 400 cd/m² is a little too low for outdoor use in bright ambient light.

On the other hand, the Idea Tab Pro has other features not often found in other tablets, even in very expensive models, such as satellite tracking or a microSD slot for storage expansion. The WLAN is also fast, the SoC offers enough power for most tasks, and 4 years of software updates are promised. But users shouldn't hope for regular or frequent updates.

In sum, the Idea Tab Pro brings the concept of a large and all-round into an affordable price range, which will appeal to people for whom an iPad Pro is far too expensive. Potential buyers who want to find out more about the large Lenovo tablet are recommended to take a look at our detailed review.
