Asus today announced the Fragrance Mouse, a new computer mouse that can be loaded with aromatic oils to produce an aromatic scent. The mouse is an otherwise simple cursor controller that comes in two colors.

Asus is known for making top-tier gaming peripherals, but the company's latest accessory aims to tackle another sense: smell.

The Asus Fragrance Mouse is a new peripheral from Asus designed to hold aromatic oils. The mouse has an internal compartment containing a "refillable vial for aromatic oils and scents," according to Asus. The vial is user-removable for washing and refilling.

Other than the oil vial, the Fragrance Mouse is fairly standard as far as computer mice go. It is a plastic peripheral with a contoured shape to better fit a user's hand. It features PTFE feet for "smooth, swift glides," per Asus. Tracking is adjustable to 1200, 1600, or 2400 DPI, and its switches are low-noise and rated for 10 million clicks.

The Fragrance Mouse uses a single AA battery, and the company claims it can last up to a year before needing a new battery. The mouse can connect either via Bluetooth (standard unknown as of press time) or a 2.4 GHz USB-A dongle that tucks away into the battery compartment. This compartment is also where users can access the scented oil vial to fill it with their preferred essential oil or other aroma-producing product.

The Fragrance Mouse comes in either Iridescent White or Rose Clay (a pinkish hue). There is no word yet on pricing or availability.
