Before the NUC branding was sold to Asus, Intel launched the NUC 13 Pro mini PC line with Raptor Lake processors, featuring up to a 28-watt Core i7 1370P. Asus has now introduced refreshed models, which come with more capable chips. To be specific, the new options are available with 45-watt Raptor Lake-H chips.
Both the Slim and the Tall variants have been updated, and they are available with Intel Core i5 13420H and Core i7 13620H. While these are within the same 13th-generation architecture, the H-series processors bring more power to the table, which should lead to moderate performance gains in most tasks.
This updated mini PC lineup has the same chassis options as before, which means they are still compact enough for most setups. The new options also have two SODIMM slots, which can hold up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. As for storage, there are two M.2 slots, one with support for PCIe 4.0 x4 2280 SSD (2 TB Samsung 990 Pro curr. $169.99 on Amazon) and one with PCIe 3.0 x1 2242 SSD. The Tall variant also offers the option to install a 2.5-inch storage.
The port configuration is identical as well. That means the updated Asus NUC 13 Pro brings two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one 2.5 GbE LAN, two HDMI 2.1, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, and one USB 2.0 Type-A.
Availability-wise, the new NUC 13 Pro mini PC lineup is set to be available in mid-March. However, some outlets have already started to take pre-orders for the systems, with the barebone Tall variant starting at $465 and Slim at $455.
