Besides rugged phones and tablets, the company Blackview also offers more conventional mobile devices under the Oscal brand. The Pad 100 is a new, relatively large Android tablet that is also designed to be a laptop replacement when paired with an optional keyboard and stand case. Measuring 8 mm (0.3 in) thin and weighing 610 g (1.3 lb), the tablet features a 12-inch display with a resolution of 1,200 x 2,000. Despite including a stylus, the Oscal Pad 100 is unlikely to support pressure sensitivity, given this feature isn’t explicitly mentioned.
Although Oscal is shipping the Pad 100 with the latest version of Android, potential buyers shouldn’t expect to receive too many major OS updates. Powering the device is a Unisoc Tiger T615 with two Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55 cores. The SoC is equipped with a cellular modem that is compatible with various LTE bands but doesn’t offer 5G connectivity. The tablet also supports up to two SIM cards, allowing users to easily enable and disable a work phone number. However, with only two card slots on the device, the 256 GB of internal UFS 2.2 storage can’t be expanded when a second SIM card is inserted. Depending on the variant selected, the Pad 100 comes with either 8 or 12 GB of memory.
The back of the device sports a 16 MP main shooter, whilst the front camera has a resolution of 8 MP. The built-in battery boasts a capacity of 9,000 mAh and can be charged at up to 18 watts. Priced at around $160, the Oscal Pad 100 is set to release on 17 February and will seemingly remain a direct import for now.
