Twisted Tower borrows quite liberally from Bioshock for aesthetics but has a unique twist. The small slice of gameplay from the demo nails the atmosphere and tone with a fittingly sinister narrative. The demo has Very Positive reviews on Steam.

Twisted Tower is a retro throwback FPS that takes heavy inspiration from the world of Bioshock but stands on its own with a sinister narrative and gameplay mechanics that make it unique. You play as Tiny, presumably struggling with PTSD in 1950s London.

The love of his life, Charlotte, has seemingly vanished, leaving behind a note that says she has found someone else. Distraught, Tiny receives a golden ticket to take part in a show. One thing leads to another, and Tiny finds himself on the shores of a twisted abandoned resort, where the host seems to know more than he is letting on.

The promising demo showcases five levels, with unique paths and secrets to hunt down. The gameplay feels satisfying with an arsenal of strange weapons that range from mallets to rubber bullet pistols and a dart-powered Tommy Gun. Each can be upgraded using currency drops you find scattered throughout the levels. Some toys also assist you in dashing, grappling, and jumping.

Along the way, the narrative slowly hints at what could have happened between Tiny and Charolette. A cackling madman fills your ear as you explore the resort, and the voice-acting sounds convincing so far, if a bit bland. The enemies range from twisted mascots to suicidal telephones that rush you down. Overall, it's a pretty fun time. You can check out the demo here.
