Leslie Benzies, former president of Rockstar North, played a key role in developing GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV and GTA V before leaving in 2016. He then founded Build A Rocket Boy, which announced its first game in 2022: Everywhere, a sandbox MMO where players can explore pre-made content and create their own worlds, games and challenges. While no release date has been set, registrations for closed beta tests are already open.
At Sony's State of Play, which featured several major gaming reveals, Leslie Benzies and his studio Build A Rocket Boy unveiled their second game – MindsEye, an intense third-person shooter. Players step into the role of Jacob Diaz, a former soldier implanted with a mysterious neural device, triggering flashbacks of a life-changing mission. According to the reveal trailer, the game revolves around AI, high-tech experiments and rogue military forces as Diaz uncovers the truth about his past. Both story and action fans could be in for a treat, with explosive third-person combat featuring ground fights, car chases and helicopter battles.
Mixed opinions in the community
Reactions to MindsEye on Reddit have been mixed. While the high-quality cutscenes have been praised, the graphics – seen as unfinished – have drawn criticism. Many compare the visuals to older AA games from the PS3/Xbox 360 era, raising doubts about the game’s overall quality. However, this perception could change before release.
Release in summer 2025, but initially only for the PlayStation 5
MindsEye is scheduled for release in summer 2025, though no exact date has been announced. It will launch first on PlayStation 5, with Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam) versions arriving later. Players can already add the game to their Steam wishlist.
