Lenovo is relaunching its 13-inch tablet and equips the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 with significantly more power and a better display. However, our test results show that there are still some compromises despite the higher price.

We know that Lenovo can build good tablets. With the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2, the Chinese manufacturer is now launching a great update for its 13-inch tablet with pen input.

However, the second-generation Idea Tab Pro has also become significantly more expensive: You pay around US$ 600.

Performance leap and technology

The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 delivers high performance values in the mid-range with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. The processor makes the tablet significantly faster than its predecessor, especially for demanding applications or games.

WiFi 7 enables transfer rates of over 2 GBit/s, making the device ideal for fast home networks or good internet connections.

Unfortunately, there is no 5G version, but satellite positioning is still possible. The 13-inch IPS screen (3,504 × 2,109 pixels, 120 Hz) is brighter and more color-accurate than its predecessor and supports precise pen input with the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus.

Design and features

The slim metal chassis (6.2 mm) with IP52 certification is again very well made and would even justify a higher price point.

With 8 GB RAM and a choice of 128 or 256 GB memory (UFS 3.1 or 4.0), the tablet is well equipped. A microSD slot enables memory expansion. Four speakers deliver full sound and Bluetooth 6.0 supports many audio codecs.

Compromises with the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2

However, the battery life lags behind the competition despite the 10,200 mAh battery, and the update period (up to Android 18) is short at four years.

The cameras (13 MP rear, 8 MP front) are only suitable for snapshots.

The tablet heats up noticeably under load. The price has also risen significantly compared to the predecessor, but some online retailers are already offering the tablet at a lower price.

Overall, we see the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 as a strong upgrade. You can see the exact reasons, numerous benchmarks, result tables and sample pictures from the cameras in our detailed review of the Lenovo tablet.
