Huawei has launched the new Hi Nova 12z smartphone, which is currently not available in Western markets. The new mobile device has already gone on sale for roughly $300 in China, but it is out of stock at the time of writing. It is unclear if the phone will ever launch globally, but the Huawei Nova 12z appears to be an improved version of the Nova 12, whose SE variant is available in some regions other than China.
Anyhow, the Huawei smartphone is equipped with an octa-core processor that is not 5G compatible, which is a rather odd limitation given the price. The manufacturer does not specific which exact SoC is found inside the Nova 12z, but the phone runs on a heavily customized version of Android that comes without any Google services, including the Play Store.
That said, the Nova 12z has a 6.67-inch OLED display with 1,080 by 2,400 pixels. According to the official spec sheet, this panel can cover the entire DCI-P3 color space. Furthermore, the device has a screen-to-body ratio of almost 92 percent. The smartphone also sports a relatively simple and therefore stylish design.
The large main camera on the back has a resolution of 108 megapixels, while the front camera is limited to 32MP. There’s an additional 2MP depth-sensing camera on the back. The Nova 12z is further equipped with 8GB RAM and 256GB of mass storage, while the 4,500mAh battery can be charged with up to 66 watts.
