Huawei is set to introduce a whole new category of mobile devices soon: an unusually squat clamshell that can unfold into a compact, 3:2 aspect ratio main display. Now, a famous leaker claims to have more to spill on the upcoming, potentially innovative handset.
Digital Chat Station now suggests that the upcoming foldable will have a cover display of 3.48 inches in diagonal length, concealing a 6.48-inch main screen.
Despite its unusual size, Huawei might still be able to fit a "full" set of rear cameras on it, a 50MP main shooter included. It might have a fingerprint reader integrated into its power button rather than its display, though.
It might have some level of dust- and water-proofing despite its unusual form-factor, which might get a perfectly-optimized version of HarmonyOS nonetheless.
The new Huawei foldable may or may not launch as the Pocket 3, and, as such, might be here in the second quarter of 2025.
If so, that could enable Huawei to pre-empt Apple in releasing the world's first strangely-proportioned foldable phablet.
