The Pura 70 series has in-display fingerprint sensors, as one might expect from a line of premium smartphones. Their successors will not, according to a new leak. Huawei is reportedly considering an upgrade to cutting-edge, iPhone-style pressure-sensitive tech for a more versatile approach to their more humble side-mounted button solution, though.

The Pura 70, 70 Pro and 70 Ultra have biometric sensors integrated into their premium 15K OLED displays; however, their respective successors might have less of the same tech than usual, according to the famous leaker Digital Chat Station.

Instead, their fingerprint readers might be baked into their power buttons, as with the much less premium Nova 13i (or the Motorola Moto G (2025) released to Amazon at $199.99). Huawei is backed to turn the apparent downgrade in its upcoming Pura 80 series to its advantage, however.

The OEM is reportedly thinking about an answer to Apple's Camera Control button - although this one might integrate additional features such as a shortcut to an AI assistant as well as fingerprint unlocking for the device in question.

The new hardware key might be ready in time for the launch of the Pura 80 series in mid-2025, and might also find its way to presumably upcoming handsets such as the successors to the Mate 70 series or foldable Mate X6 thereafter.
