Huawei Mate X6 debuts globally as next-gen foldable smartphone with Ultra Aperture Xmage Cameras
Huawei has held its latest global launch in the Diamond Ballroom of Dubai's Atlantis The Royal hotel - however, the OEM also chose not to grace that venue with an international model for the cutting-edge tri-folding Mate XT.
Nevertheless, the company asserts that the more conventional, book-style Mate X6 is sumptuous enough, with its "universe-inspired" design that is touted as impressively compact despite heavyweight rear cameras with "ground-breaking" features such as an Ultra Chroma Camera with 1.50 million spectral channels for "120% improved" color accuracy (compared to the Mate X3, that is) and a 50MP Ultra Aperture Camera.
The X6 also, of course, features a 2440×2240 7.93-inch main OLED display, accompanied by a 6.45-inch cover screen, the latter of which has Kunlun Glass 2 to augment other durability-enhancing features such as an "aviation-grade" aluminum mid-frame and internal carbon-fiber reinforcements.
Huawei also backs the Mate X6 as a productivity powerhouse, with features such as Live Multi-Task that can split the main screen between 3 different apps (which, in fairness, sounds a lot like OnePlus' Open Canvas mode).
Huawei has confirmed that the Mate X6 will be available in its Nebula Gray, Black and Red colorways worldwide, but neglected to discuss pricing during its Dubai introduction. It debuted in China at 12,999 yuan (~$1,787 - still cheaper than the XT, though!), while the Galaxy Z Fold6 currently starts for $1,349 new on Amazon.
