RedMagic 10 Pro: World's first Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphone to face famous online durability test
The RedMagic 9 Pro was hailed as a smartphone that could have come from 2030 by Zach Nelson of JerryRigEverything fame thanks to gamer-like design and hardware that seems to the popular vlogger to be far ahead of what even Apple can achieve.
Now, however, the 10 Pro has arrived on the YouTube channel as a smartphone "from 2040" thanks to crucial upgrades such as the new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and "twice the capacity of an iPhone" with its massive 7,050mAh battery.
Xiaomi might have the world's most popular smartphone with that SoC right now; however, the 15 series' RedMagic counterpart still has the highest screen-to-body ratio at 95.3%, thanks to its third-generation under-display camera technology.
The 6.85-inch 144Hz AMOLED display was found to be better at hiding its selfie camera compared to its predecessors, although it does indeed peek out through the pixel matrix under closer inspection with a USB microscope (that can be ordered on Amazon).
Its 20-step manufacturing process is said to take 3 times longer than that of a conventional smartphone display.
The front-facing camera seemed to be capable of clearer selfies compared to those of the 8 Pro or 9 Pro, although it was slightly lacking in detail and did strange things to skin tone when tested out on the popular YouTube channel - stay tuned for our full review to find out if it does that again.
On that note, for a smartphone packed with other sophisticated tech such as an active cooling system complete with its own fan, air intake and liquid metal, the RedMagic 10 Pro proved quite robust during its traditional JerryRigEverything ordeal thanks to its "aviation-grade" aluminum frame.
Finally, the 10 Pro came in for more praise thanks to its flat rear cameras, up-to-100W charging and for retaining a 3.5mm jack despite the rest of its specs - all for as little as $649.
Now, it will be interesting to see how its top-end mobile gaming rival the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro fares on its JerryRigEverything appearance, especially given its series' occasionally excruciating legacy.
