Xiaomi 15 Pro dominates the iPhone 16 Pro Max and other flagship rivals in battery endurance test

While Apple's "Pro Max" models have typically offered the best battery life among flagships, that looks to have changed now, with a new battery endurance test showcasing Xiaomi's just-released Xiaomi 15 Pro as the new flagship battery champ.

As tested by Tech Droider, the Xiaomi 15 Pro has a strong claim to offering the best battery performance of the major flagship phones on the market, as it outperforms the iPhone 16 Pro Max, OnePlus 12, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Admittedly, both the OnePlus 12 and Galaxy S24 Ultra are powered by the last-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

On the test, the Pixel 9 Pro XL lasts for 9h59m and reaches a temperature of 42.4°C; the S24 Ultra lasts for 10h23m and reaches a rather high temperature of 50.4 °C. The OnePlus 12 performs even better, as it lasts for 10h46m and runs quite cool at 43.6 °C. Apple's iPhone 16 Pro Max heats up to 50°C but lasts a whopping 11h16m and yet still falls short of the Xiaomi 15 Pro which lasts an impressive 12h23m while remaining at a sensible 43.8°C.

Of course, it has to be said that the Xiaomi 15 Pro has multiple advantages over its peers. For one, it's the newest device on the list, so likely suffers from the least battery degradation. It's also the only Snapdragon 8 Elite device tested; other than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, all other devices run on older SoC architecture. The most obvious advantage, however, is its battery capacity, with its 6100 mAh unit being the largest of the bunch.
