Xiaomi officially teases major upgrades for the Redmi K80 series ahead of launch

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi K80 series, with the potential launch being set for the end of November. Past reports have already hinted at what to expect, but Lu Weibing, the company’s president and general manager, has just teased all the upgrades that the sub-flagship phone lineup may bring.

In one of the recent Weibo posts, Weibing teased that the upcoming Redmi K80 series will offer upgrades in multiple departments, including battery life, performance, and camera. Recent leaks have suggested that the standard and the Pro will see a bump in battery capacity.

More specifically, the standard is expected to feature a 6,000 mAh battery, while the Redmi K80 Pro will reportedly pack a 6,500 mAh battery. Both of these are upgrades over the predecessor. They are also said to sport up to 120W fast charging support (120W Anker 737 GaNPrime charger curr. $68 on Amazon), with the Pro variant supporting 50W wireless charging.

As for the performance, leaks suggest that the Redmi K80 Pro will feature the newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the non-Pro will pack the last-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The leaks have also hinted that the Pro variant will feature a more capable camera setup, with a 50 MP primary, 32 MP ultrawide, and a 50 MP telephoto sensor with 2.6x optical zoom.

Both phones are expected to feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and a flat display, which is in line with the recent Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship phones. The Redmi K80 Pro is said to make a global debut as the Poco F7 Ultra, while the standard could launch globally as the Poco F7 Pro.
