Xiaomi has unveiled a new entry-level smartphone to its Redmi A-series portfolio, the Redmi A4 5G. The 5G-enabled smartphone is a successor to the Redmi A3, which was announced earlier this year. This time around, Xiaomi went with Qualcomm's chipset for its latest A series 5G smartphone.
The Redmi A4 5G is powered by a 4nm-based Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 processor coupled with eight CPU cores and an Adreno 619L GPU. Unfortunately, the chipset only supports 5G SA band and doesn’t have support for 5G NSA. Software-wise, the device runs Android 14-based HyperOS out of the box. Xiaomi has promised two major OS updates (Android 15, 16) and four years of security updates for the A4 5G.
The device has a 6.88-inch large LCD display that outputs at 1,640 x 720 pixels with 600 nits peak brightness and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it features a 5,160 mAh battery that it can charge at 18 W via USB-C port. Xiaomi also added an IP52 water and dust resistance rating to the smartphone.
Furthermore, the handset has a 50 MP primary camera complemented by an unknown camera sensor. On the front, there is a 5 MP shooter with an f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video chats. In terms of dimensions, the A4 5G measures 171.88 x 77.80 x 8.22 mm and weighs 212.3 g. It packs up to 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 1 TB via microSD card.
The Redmi A4 5G starts at INR 8,499 (roughly $100) for the base 4 GB RAM + 64 GB model, and the 4 GB + 128 GB variant costs INR 9,499 (roughly $112). It comes in Starry Black and Sparkle Purple color options. The phone will be available via Xiaomi’s official website and Amazon India, starting from November 27.
