Xiaomi Redmi A3 arrives with Xiaomi 14 Ultra looks for those operating on a budget
Xiaomi has confirmed full details and pricing for the Redmi A3, a successor to the Redmi A2 (curr. $79.50) that looks nothing like its predecessor. While the Redmi A2 resembles many recent Redmi smartphones, the Redmi A3 has taken a leaf out of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra's book. As such, the Redmi A3 also mirrors the design of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, press shots and renders of which surfaced earlier today.
Somewhat predictably, the Redmi A3 lacks the high-end hardware of Xiaomi's flagship smartphones. Instead, the Redmi A3 comes with a 90 Hz IPS display that measures 6.71-inches across and resolves at 1,650 x 720 pixels. Additionally, Xiaomi has included a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset and a 5,000 mAh battery, as well as up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 flash storage. Moreover, the Redmi A3 has 5 MP front-facing, 8 MP primary and 0.08 MP auxiliary cameras, which all seek to underline that the Redmi A3 is a budget handset.
The Redmi A3 starts at INR 7,299 (~$88) in India with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Alternatively, Xiaomi sells the same device with 128 GB of storage and a choice between 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM for INR 8,299 (~$100) and INR 9,299 (~$112), respectively. Please note that at launch, the Redmi A3 is available in Lake Blue, Midnight Black and Olive Green colour options; Xiaomi has not provided details about a global release yet, though.
