Bumper Xiaomi 14 Ultra leak reveals official images, camera specifications and memory options with pricing that undercuts the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
The first official images of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra have surfaced online. As previous leaks suggested, Xiaomi's next 'Ultra' smartphone looks an awful lot like the current Xiaomi 13 Ultra. However, Xiaomi has made several minor design changes that combine to visually distinguish the Xiaomi 14 Ultra from its predecessor.
While the front of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra remains a mystery for now, @MysteryLupin and MySmartPrice have shared images of the device's back and sides. According to @billbil_kun, Xiaomi only plans to sell its next flagship in the colours pictured so far, which both feature polyurethane (PU) artifical leather finishes, a material that is also commonly known as pleather or vegan leather, among other names. Additionally, Xiaomi has removed the plastic lip that sits between the Xiaomi 13 Ultra's frame and vegan leather back.
Moreover, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has a flat back panel in, another change from its predecessor. On top of that, Xiaomi has added a textured power button and a metallic ring that surrounds the device's large camera housing. Furthermore, Xiaomi has etched the following details within its camera housing:
Leica Vario-Summilux
1:1.63 - 2.5 / 12 - 120 ASPH
In other words, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra contains cameras with f/1.63 to f/2.5 apertures, a change from the f/1.8 and f/3.0 options found in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Nonetheless, the former retains the latter's 12 mm to 120 mm equivalent focal length ranges. Presumably, this means that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra contains new primary and periscope cameras that can capture more light than the 50 MP sensors in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
Meanwhile, a Weibo leaker has demonstrated that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be available in China with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Unfortunately, it seems that memory configuration will not form part of the device's global release. Instead, @billbil_kun alleges that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will reach Europe with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for €1,499, price-matching its predecessor. Correspondingly, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will retail for €50 more than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. With that being said, Samsung charges €1,569 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra with 512 GB of storage, effectively making the Xiaomi 14 Ultra €70 cheaper than its 'Ultra' counterpart at the same storage configuration. Xiaomi will present the Xiaomi 14 Ultra globally on February 25, although the device may debut a few days earlier in China.
