At first glance, little has changed in the camera specs of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Upon closer inspection, however, the details reveal exciting new features, as the first teasers from China now officially confirm. But first, a current teaser video for the global Xiaomi 14 series, which provides few concrete details, but certainly generates enthusiasm for the new generation.

136% more light thanks to Summilux optics
Chinese network Weibo, on the other hand, presents hard facts. Xiaomi confirms that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra contains the new Sony Lytia 900 sensor, like the IMX989 in 1-inch format, but combined with a new Summilux lens. According to the machine-translated teaser posters below, the new sensor has a stepless variable aperture that lets in 136% more light (than the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, presumably) at F/1.63. The other focal lengths will also benefit from the revised optical design. The dual telephoto duo will act as a dual macro for the first time. Both the 75 mm lens and the 120 mm lens feature a floating element that can be used to focus at short distances. The aperture has been reduced to F/1.8 for the 75 mm telephoto lens and to F/2.5 for the 120 mm periscope telephoto lens.
First sample photos from the Leica Quad Cam
Alongside the camera teasers, Xiaomi has uploaded the first photos from the Leica Quad Cam cameras to Weibo. Of course, these have been carefully selected and were likely taken by professional photographers, but they certainly show what the new Leica camera is capable of, especially in low-light and shadowy environments. At the same time, they also provide further clues about the camera's specs. The 12mm ultra-wide angle also offers an F/1.8 aperture, which means that Xiaomi has actually made all four cameras significantly more light-sensitive. If the ultra-wide angle also supports autofocus, which we assume it does, then the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be the first smartphone with a total of three macro-capable cameras.
