A few hours after the Chinese launch of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and just before its global launch at the Mobile World Congress, the first teardown video of the new Leica camera flagship examines the smartphone in detail and includes a camera test and various measurements, such as of the battery and display.

In a few hours' time, all official details about the global model of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona. A white Chinese model has already appeared on a video via YouTube channel WekiHome, where it was professionally disassembled into its individual parts. There are many similarities to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra from last year, but individual components have been replaced, such as the Sony Lytia 900 sensor, which can be seen in the teardown at minute 4.00 with its steplessly variable aperture.

Viewers are advised to switch on the auto-translation in the YouTube settings so that they at least have a rough idea of what the teardown expert is talking about. The lighting of the camera components is followed by some photos taken with the new Leica camera, and the updated photography kit is also discussed, which can now be used as a charger and has more hardware buttons than its predecessor. Some comparison photos show how much the "Ultra-Zoom" from ASIP has improved the quality of long-range zoom shots.

Battery, display and first gaming tests

After a detailed examination of some of the components, a battery charging test follows from minute 9, which shows that the 5300 mAh battery recharges at a maximum of 73.6 watts via USB-C and is fully charged in 41 minutes. The AMOLED display was measured with a base brightness of 521 nits, 752 nits in sunlight mode and a maximum of 1045 nits in full-screen mode. From minute 10 onwards, the first performance tests are also carried out, specifically in games. In most of the games tested, both temperature and power consumption remain within limits, with Genshin Impact proving to be the greater challenge in some cases. At the end of the video, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is reassembled in fast motion.
