Codenamed "db" and using the version number 3.8.0, the latest Nitrux release comes with updated apps such as Firefox 133.0, MESA 24.2.8, some fixes to the system installer, as well as OpenRC reorganization that improves the service script. The Calamares configuration tool and the offline documentation have been updated as well.

Initially based on Ubuntu, Nitrux switched to Debian after a while. Now, it is one of the rather special distros on the market, providing a unique user experience alongside excellent support. The latest release is 3.8.0 and, as usual, delivers fresh software updates, bug fixes, performance tweaks, and further improves the list of hardware supported.

Codenamed "db" and focusing on both speed and hardware integration, Nitrox 3.8.0 comes with the following highlights:

  • Firefox 133.0.
  • MESA 3D 24.2.8.
  • Nitrux Update Tool System 2.1.9.
  • Calamares gets kernel parameters that prevent clock drift in some laptops and ditches a non-functional kernel parameter.
  • OpenRC services configuration allows for a faster boot thanks to the removal of some services and also sorts some items into runlevels as per their purpose.
  • Updated offline documentation.
  • Various updates to the desktop configuration.
  • Multiple driver updates.

The ISO file is compatible with the x64 architecture and has 3.29 GB in size. A torrent link is also available in addition to the direct HTTP download option. Those not familiar with Nitrux should keep in mind that this distro comes from Mexico, and the main desktop environment is a custom KDE Plasma-based piece of code named NX Desktop, which uses "plasmoids" to create a unique user experience. The distro also comes with support for redistributable, portable applications that use the AppImage format.

Although not focusing on a certain distro, UNIX and Linux System Administration Handbook is a quite handy book for most UNIX/Linux users. The Kindle version is currently available for $53.59, while the paperback edition goes for $64.28.
