HTC U24 Pro shows off 3.5mm jack and endures bend test in new video

HTC was once one of the world's leading Android smartphone OEMs, yet is now reduced to proving it is not quite dead yet with the odd new (and often underwhelming) device release every now and then.

On the other hand, the veteran Taiwanese company might have something worthwhile with the new U24 Pro. It stands out from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3-powered crowd with edges that are angular rather than flat; then again, they were found to be no more comfortable to hold in a new online test of its durability.  

JerryRigEverything host Zach Nelson also referred to its 50MP selfie camera as further evidence of its 'unique' nature, although Vivo and Infinix might have something to say about that.

Then again, the U24 Pro pairs that spec to a plastic rear panel in Space Navy, which seems to make it easier to put the phone through a teardown.

Nevertheless, its aluminum frame got it through the bend test stage of the video without fail. Furthermore, the new smartphone does indeed pack a dedicated audio port and removable storage, and also benefits from wireless charging and an IP67 rating. 

On the other hand, its 4,600mAh battery and 6.8-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display is run of the mill (with "deeper grooves at a level 7") thanks to an unspecified iteration of Gorilla Glass - in addition, Nelson could not get its fingerprint scanner to work, intimating that the device is not one for those who are often active outdoors.

All in all, the U24 Pro seems a mixed bag for €564 (~$616) at the time of writing. Alternatively, HTC-branded USB-C chargers can be found on Amazon right now.
